Scenery behind your desktop
Use Aerial as animated wallpaper behind your desktop icons, with its own video, playback and overlay settings. Start or stop it from the tray, skip a scene or start it with Windows. Pause or slow playback on displays covered by other windows while uncovered displays keep playing. The screensaver can pick up where the wallpaper left off.
A layout editor for every display
Drag and resize widgets in a live preview, snap them to a grid and tune padding and content size. Save layouts per display. Share settings across screensaver, wallpaper and Minimal Mode, or give each mode its own arrangement. Wallpaper widget changes appear without restarting the video.
Weather and system widgets
Show current weather or a three- or seven-day forecast, with Celsius or Fahrenheit and no weather API key required. Add CPU and memory usage, plus per-drive storage charts. Choose widget order, sizing and layout to fit your screen.
A quieter Minimal Mode
Switch to a black background with a moving clock after a chosen idle interval. Customize its time and date formats, font, color and opacity, and arrange widgets with the same layout editor.
A library you can organize
Find scenes with search and quick filters, mark favorites and pin them for easy access. Import additional video catalogs, edit metadata and manage cached files with bulk cleanup controls. Save, duplicate and rename profiles for different setups, and import or export your configuration.
More control over the look
Use a refreshed light or dark configuration interface. Fine-tune overlay fonts, wrapping, line spacing, opacity and fades. Improved video transitions and playback handling keep scene changes smooth.
Updates without the extra steps
The installed version checks for updates, shows download progress and offers Restart and Install. Portable and .scr versions use the GitHub releases. Playback recovery and bounded diagnostic logs help troubleshoot problems.

Compatibility
Windows. Downloading scenic videos from Apple’s hosting uses network bandwidth and disk space; cached videos can play offline. Weather needs an internet connection and configured location coordinates.
Which Windows download should I choose?
Use the installer for a regular desktop installation and in-app updates. The portable app runs without installation; Aerial.scr is the native Windows screensaver option.
Who made the original?
OrangeJedi developed Aerial for Windows. Our fork builds on that project’s scenic video screensaver, caching, custom videos and overlays. The additions above are documented in our releases through version 1.3.16. The repository preserves the original project’s credits and licensing.
Is this the Mac Aerial app?
No. This page is for our Windows fork of OrangeJedi’s Aerial. The separate Mac Aerial project is not part of this portfolio.
